beencenteredonsuchconditioningfactorsasculturalfactors，textualfunctionsandpragmaticmeaningsbesideslinguisticformswiththeachievementsmademostlyinthestudiesoftranslationofpracticalwritings．However，therestillexistsomeweaknessesintheprescriptiveresearch，l-ikethelackofproperdescriptionsofthetranslation-cond-itioningfactorsandtheconditionsforapplyingtranslationstrategies．Thedescriptiveresearchoftranslationstrategiescametoasuddenemergenceandhasdevelopedrapidly．Butitalsohassomeproblems，suchasthemonotonousne-ssinitsresearchmethodsandtheinsufficiencyinitsobje-ctivity．Thetheoreticalresearchhasmadecertainachieve-mentsinprobingintoforeigntranslationstrategytheories，thefactorsconditioningthechoiceoftranslationstrateg-ies，andtranslationstrategyontology．Basedontheanalys-esoftheexistingproblems，thepapermakesseveralsug-gestionsonfuturestudyoftranslationstrategies．

Abstract：Thisstudyaimedtoexploretheimpactofbackgr-oundinformation（BI）ontheinterpretingqualityofmetap-horicalexpressions（MEs）．Wedesignedabetween-subjects

experimentinwhich60learnersofinterpretingwerecross-groupedintoacontrolgroup（CG）andanexperimentgroup（EG）．Bothgroupswereaskedtosight-interpretingaspeech

withtenMEs，butonlyEGmembersweregivenmaterialsintroducingrelevantBIbeforehand．Theresearchtriangulateddatafromtherecordingsofsightinterpretation，thetranscrip-tionoftherecordingsandthesubjects'retrospectiveinterv-iews．TheresultsshowedthattheEGproducedremarkablyl-essprocessingtimeonMEsandproducedlesspausesthantheCG；meanwhile，theaverageevaluationsoftheinterpre-tingproductsofMEsrevealedthatEGproducedmuchlessfailedinterpretationsandmoresuccessfulones．Thepaperconcludeswithtwomajorfindings：1）theacquisitionofBImarkedlybettersthe“fluency”oftheEG'deliverybyshort-eningtheprocessingtimeandreducingthesilentandfilledpauses；2）theacquisitionofBIdiscerniblyreducesthedifficultiesofthecomprehensionandreformulationofMEs，andthusincreasesthe“faithfulness”and“accuracy”oftheinterpretedproducts．
