Teaching procedures: Step 1 Presenting Say: In English, we can use personal pronouns to replace nouns for people or things. Then we do not need to repeat the nouns. We use the subject form when the noun is the subject. Now please open your books and turn to page 24. Read the sentence in the table. Then draw a line from the pronoun to the noun it refers to. (I→Millie, you→Sandy, He→Simon, She→Millie, It→my school, We→Daniel and Amy, you→Simon and Millie, They→new friends) Step 2 Practicing 1. Ask students to do Part A1. Step 1: Presenting Explain to students that we can use personal pronouns to avoid repeating nouns which have already been mentioned. Work through the sample sentences on page 26 and show how each pronoun is related to the subject in the first sentence. Write some more sample sentences on the Bb: The boy is sleeping. Don?t wake him up. We have a dog. It likes to play with us. I am hungry. Please give me a piece of bread. Ask students where we put personal pronouns (object form) in a sentence. Explain the difference between the subject form and object form by referring to the table on page 26. Step 2 Practicing Explain to students that Daniel is talking to his father on the phone. Ask students to read the conversation in pairs. Then tell them to complete the sentences with personal pronouns (object form). Ask students to draw arrows from the pronouns to the people or things they are replacing. Check the answers. (1. them 2. us 3. him/it 4. it 5. her 6. you).
