Abstract

Although the ideological origin of the industry chain can be dated back to the period of classical economics in the mid- to late-17th century, it has not formed a complete and independent theo-retical system. So that it had to rely on the relevant theories of economics and management to provide theoretical explanations to support the industry chain research. In the 21st century, the research of industry chain has formed an upsurge in China, covering theoretical research, empiri-cal research and policy research. It involves many departments and different regions, forming tens of thousands of research results. For promoting the theoretical innovation of China’s industry chain research, it is necessary to sort out the existing economics and management theory related to the industry chain. With a brief review of these researches conducted by Chinese scholars in the past 20 years, this paper demonstrates the efforts and achievements of China’s academia in con-structing the theoretical system of industry chain and deepens the understanding of the future development of theoretical research.
