If I Were the Mayor of This City

The city in which I live is my favorite because I have been living here for 13 years. I have become used to the climate and the way of living here. Of course, it is far from perfect. It is faced with many problems, among which water pollution and car accidents are the major problems to be solved.

If I had the good luck of becoming the mayor of this city, I wouldn't look on when faced with the major problems mentioned above. The water in some rivers and lakes is very dirty because a large amount of waste water from chemical plants flows into them before being purified. Considering this, I would propose that some sewage treatment plants be built so that sewage water could be disposed of before flowing into rivers and lakes. As for car accidents, I propose making laws calling on citizens to obey safety regulations and prohibiting drivers from drunken driving.

If our city could get rid of water pollution, the water in rivers and lakes would be cleaner than before. Fewer fish would die in rivers and lakes. If car accidents could be kept under control, people's property and safety would be guaranteed. As long as every citizen makes efforts, our city is bound to become one of the cleanest and the most civilized cities in our country.
