5.enough 的用法: 作副词用,放在所修饰的形容词之后;作形容词用,放在所修饰的名词之前

e.g. He is old enough to travel alone. We have enough room to live. 6. be good at n./doing.= do well in n./doing 7.because 和because of

because 引导原因状语从句,从句在前,句子用逗号隔开;从句在后,不需要逗号。Because 是连词,只跟从句;而because of 是复合介词,后面只能跟名词或名词短语或代词。E.g. I can‘t go out because I broke my leg. We stayed at home because of the heavy rain. 8.be used to do sth=be used for doing sth. ―被用于做‖ (被动结构见语法详解) 9.late 和later:

4) late 做形容词表示―接近末期的,晚点/迟到‖ e.g. in late September, be late for school.

late 做副词,表示―晚,迟‖e.g. We got up late today.

5) later 做形容词表示―后来的‖ e.g. in his later years. later做副词表示―后来的‖ e.g. two years later,

10. enable somebody to do something 使某人能做某事 e.g. My parents enabled me to join the golf club.

11. 区别bring, take, carry, fetch

Bring 指把人或物带到说话人所处的地方,take 指把人或物从说话的地方带到别处, fetch指从说话人所在的地方到别处把人或物带回来,carry不表示人或物位置改变的方向,一般指随身携带。E.g. I asked her to fetch me an umbrella. She always carries a big bag. 12.probably 和possibly区别:

1) probably 意为―很可能,2) 大概‖,3) 肯定的成分较大,4) 相当于most likely 5) possibly 意为―可能‖ ,6) 比probably 语气弱得多。 13. be interested in =be keen on 对…感兴趣。 Ⅲ. Post-task

How to improve the ability of guessing new words

Efficient reading requires the use of various problem—solving skills. For example, it is impossible for you to know the exact meaning of every word you read, but by developing your guessing ability, you will be able to understand enough to arrive at the total meaning of a sentence, paragraph, or essay. It is helpful to improve your ability to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words by using context clues. Although there is no formula (公式) to memorize, you should keep the following points in mind:

1. Use the meaning of other words in the sentence or paragraph and the meaning of sentence as a whole to reduce the number of possible meanings.

2. Use grammar and punctuation (标点) clues which point to the relationships among the various parts of the sentence.

3. Use your general or common knowledge of the world.

4. Be satisfied with a general idea about the unfamiliar words; the exact definition or synonym (同义字) is not always necessary.

5. Learn to recognize situations in which it is not necessary to know the meanings of the word. Example
