required courseFundamental to most programs is a sequence of courses in architectural history, sometimes including“theory”. In a few instances these courses are taught in art departments, but nearly always include discussion of not only what mankind has constructed since the pyramids but how and why. A thorough understanding of the differences in style and technology of our predecessors provides the foundation for understanding our present culture relative to its building needs.
