Religion as a world view2) Five Religious OrientationsWe need to know: First, religion is but one kind of world view, and even the person who says “There is no God” has answers to the large questions about life, death, suffering, and social relationships. Second, as Hendry says “Religion pervades many spheres which we might call secular and it cannot easily be separated from them.” Finally, it is not our intent to offer a course on world religion, but rather to isolate those aspects of world view that are most manifest in how a culture perceives issues such as life, death, social relationships, community, ethics, and other matters that affect communication.
