Last year, the University of Delaware had more than 36 programs leading to graduate degrees. However, beginning in 2016, the university added four more programs to its offerings. What’s new about these programs is that all classes will be online. (18) Now, working professionals can get advanced degrees from the University of Delaware without having to spend any evenings or weekends in class. The degrees are offered in computer engineering, security, public administration, and educational leadership. By being offered online, the programs are designed for students with bachelor’s degrees who want an advanced degree but can’t find time to take classes because they work full-time jobs. (19) The university would like to make 24 online degrees available to professionals. So far, there isn’t any financial aid available to students; those who want the degrees will have to pay the fees directly or take out student loans. This will equal around $100,000 over two years. (20) However, since graduates can expect to make more money once they have an advanced degree, this is probably a good investment. The most recent figures suggest that with their higher salary, graduates can expect to pay off this amount in about five years. (20)
