我国地铁建设的费用,大部分靠地方财政提供支持,而地铁费用组成中,设备费用占很大的比例。在我国,除北京地铁是由我国自行设计、建造的外,其他城市的地铁建设,大部分技术和设备主要依赖于进口,如上海地铁一号线主要设备是从德国进口的;广州地铁一号线主要设备从德国、日本、美国、英国等国家引进的;重庆轻轨线主要设备从日本引进的;由于设备大量依赖于进口,造成了建设、维修、运营成本昂贵。所以我国城市轨道交通系统基本上都在沿海经济发达地区建立,这在一定程度上阻碍了我国城市轨道交通在更大范围的发展。近年来,随着对引进技术的学习、消化、研究、创新,我国在轨道的关键技术和设备上有了突破,如行车速度为200KM/H的子弹头机车已研制成功等,在上海明珠线、广州地铁二号线、南京地铁及深圳地铁等项目的设备国产化率准备达到60%～80%,使地铁每公里的造价由原来的8亿元人民币降低到4亿5千万人民币,轻轨每公里的造价仅为2亿5千万元左右,地铁车辆费用从进口的190万美元降到40万美元,随着设备国产化率的提高,大大的降低了地铁建设造价,同时,在我国其他经济相对落后的城市,建立城市轨道交通系统,将为期不远,这样促进了城市轨道交通系统在我国更广范围的发展。
