This module is about health. In Unit 3, Jiamin is not feeling well. Ben and Janet ask him how he feels and gives advice to him to get well again. Unit 4 is a passage about how Mr Li, who is 80 years old, stays healthy. 二、Grammar and communicative functions

Asking someone his/ her health situation: What’s the matter with you? Telling others one’s physical problems: I have (a stomachache).

Giving advice with should, e. g. You should see a doctor. You should be careful. Talking about past events with the Simple Past Tense, e. g. He gave me a check-up.

Using couldn’t to talk about past inabilities, e. g. I couldn’t sleep well. Determiners: more, less, too much, plenty of Discourse markers: first, second, third, finally Using too for emphasis, e. g. —Too ( heavy) —Too much (meat)

Imperative sentences (affirmative and negative), e. g. —Get up early.

—Don’t watch too much television. Communicative functions —I think you’ll be well soon. —I’m sorry to hear that. —You don’t look well. —I don’t feel well. 三、Vocabulary

Nouns:

doctor, nurse, exercise, smile, secret, health, sleep, diet Verbs:

worry, look (He looks 60) Adjectives:

oily y sweet, simple, healthy Nouns/ Noun phrases:

a toothache, a broken finger, a cold, a headache, a fever, a check-up Verbs in the past form:

went, stayed, gave, ate, fell, wore

Verb phrases denoting causes of physical problems:

eat too much candy, fall from the bike, wear wet clothes, can’t sleep, eat too much ice cream

Verb phrases denoting things people should do to get better:

brush teeth twice a day, take a rest, take (some)medicine, drink plenty of water Words in context

—words and phrases related to health: wake up, pains, doctor, pills, grow —cross, moping

—I’d better, scratch, serious —acupuncture, injection, stitches 四、Word family

Prepositions before time phrases and before phrases denoting locations. 五、Learning outcomes

Pupils will be able to:

—ask people their physical state; —describe people’s physical problems;

—give Suggestions on what to do about a physical problem; —explain what someone did to deal with a physical problem; —use discourse markers to describe something more coherently; —understand texts describing a healthy lifestyle;

—use the correct preposition before time phrases and phrases denoting location;

—read the rhyme in this module.
