After rueeting Steve outside a church one day, we made regular tirue to study The Bible together. He seemed alone and needed a friend.
Steve had been homeless before he rented a room. Unfortunately, his bike broke down several months ago. I took it to a friend who repaired bikes, only to be told it would cost more to replace the parts than to buy a new bike. Neither Steve nor I had enough money to buy a new bike.
I heard a local group gave away bikes, but when I called they said they had all been donated.
I looked at garage sales but found no second-hand bikes. Four people told me they would help get Steve a bike. I waited but without result. Finally , I gave up thinking about buying a bike. But the other dav something strange happened. I was driving back into the area where Steve lived when I saw a picture in my mind: I drove Steve to a store and bought him a bike. couldn't actually happen because I only had ~89 in ruy bank account to last three weeks. It was impossible to buy him a bike.
When I got back home that day, there was an envelope on my bed. I opened it to see a 100- dollar bill and a kind letter! The first thing I thought of was to buy Steve a bike. I got to Steve's
house and told him the whole story. "What? " Steve was surprised and very grateful.
As we left the store, I stood at the front and watched Steve riding off happily. I felt as happy
and grateful as him.
