摘 要

称谓语是一种敏感的社会指示语，它将语言和社会紧密相连。在折射人际关系的同时，它也反映了社会发展的轨迹。了解汉英女性亲属称谓词的差异是保证跨文化交际不可或缺的基础。中西方女性称谓语及称谓规则各有特点，人们由此可以洞悉二者在语言发展、社会结构、历史变迁等方面的差异。并且二者在不同的文化背景下，人们的价值观念，民族心理与认知方式也将有所不同。因此，称谓语的研究将有助于汉、英语言学习者在跨文化交际中多一些沟通的成功，从而减少人们在跨文化交流中的障碍。

ABSTRACT

Appellation and title is a sensitive social deixis which links the language and social closely. It reflects interpersonal relationships as well as the development of the society. To understand the differences of the title words of English female relatives is to ensure that the essential foundation for cross-cultural communication. Western female Appellations and Titles have their own characteristics, which people can discern the differences in language development, social structure, and change of history. Under the two different cultural backgrounds, people's value, national psychology and cognitive style will also be different. Therefore, application and title will be helpful for language learners to have more success in communication. Moreover, it can reduce the obstacles in cross-cultural communication.
