Few people like cloudy days because they may one feel sad, worried, or even

disappointed. However, when something starts affecting our health as well as our sight, it becomes more dangerous.

There are many kinds of things that we can’t see in the air we breathe in. They are called particulate matters(微粒物) by scientists, or written in PM. According to the sizes, they are divided into PM 10 particulates that are between 2.5 and 10 microns in diameter, PM 2.5 particulates and PM 0.1 particulates. As a matter of fact, PM 2.5 particulates are about one thirtieth times as wide as our hair. They cannot be stopped in our nose and travel directly to our lungs(肺). A lot of health problems, diseases, even death can be caused. So scientists believe they are more dangerous to our health than the other particulates.

Particulates matters in the air mainly include dust, dirt, smoke, liquid(液体) drops and something else. PM 10 particulates like dust and dirt which are the biggest usually come from nature and factories. They can also cause health problems. If it is full of PM 10 particulates somewhere, people should be more careful when driving. PM 2.5

particulates are made up of smoke, metal, liquid drops and they are from useless gas of cars, burning coal or used oil. However, PM 0.1 particulates are some tiny chemical materials like C or N that doesn’t cause damage (危害).
