I know what you're thinking: pizza(比萨饼)? For breakfast? But the truth is that you can have last night's leftovers in the a.m. if you want to. I know lots of women who skip breakfast (不吃早饭), and they have a ton of different excuses for doing it. Some say they don't have time, others think they're “saying” calories(卡路里), still others just don't like breakfast food.

But the bottom line is that eating in the morning is very important when you're trying to lose weight. “Eating just about anything from 300 to 400 calories would be better than nothing at all,” says Katherine Brooking, R.D., who developed the super-easy eating plan for this year's “SELF CHALLENGE”. And even pizza can be healthy if it's loaded with vegetables, and you stick to one small piece.

Breakfast is one meal I never miss, and the same goes for most weight-loss success stories. Research shows that eating breakfast keeps you from overeating later in the day. Researchers at the University of Southern California found that breakfast skippers have a bigger chance of gaining weight than those who regularly have a morning meal.

So eat something in the morning, anything. I know plenty of friends who end up having no breakfast altogether, and have just coffee or orange juice. I say, try heating up last night's leftovers—it may sound crazy, but if it

works for you, do it! I find if I tell myself, “You can always eat it tomorrow.” I put away the leftovers instead of eating more that night. Try it—you may save yourself some pre-bedtime calories. And watch your body gain the fat-burning effects.

81. The word “leftovers” in paragraph I probably means . A. food remaining after a meal B. things left undone C. meals made of vegetables

D. pizza topped with fruit

82. What can we infer from the text?

A. Working women usually have breakfast in a hurry. B. Many people have wrong ideas about breakfast. C. There are some easy ways of cooking a meal. D. Eating vegetables helps save energy.

83. According to the last paragraph, it is important to . A. eat something for breakfast B. be careful about what you cat C. heat up food before eating it

D. cat calorie-controlled food

84. The text is written mainly for those . A. who go to work early B. who want to lose weight C. who stay up late 八、短文7选5(5选5等)

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep hole. When the other frogs saw how deep the hole was, they told the two frogs that they were hopeless to be alive. But the two frogs didn't believe it. 85. The other frogs kept telling them to stop and wait for their death. Finally, one of the two frogs gave up and fell down. Soon he died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs shouted at him and told him to stop and just wait to die. 86. D. who eat before sleep

When he got out, the other frogs said, \explained to them that he was deaf. 87. The story teaches us two lessons. 88. An encouraging word to someone who is down can cheer him up and help him make it through difficulties. Secondly, a destructive(消极的) word to someone who is down can make him give up and die. So be careful of what you say.

Speak life to those who cross your path. It is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. It is great for a person to take the time to encourage another. A. Then the two frogs began to stop jumping. B. But he jumped even harder and finally he made it. C. Firstly, there is power of life and death in the tongue. D. So he thought they were encouraging him at that time. E. They tried to jump up out of the hole with their efforts. 九、阅读与表达(问答式)

When we compare ourselves with great people, we feel very ordinary and unimportant. However, we must remember that those great people were extraordinary. The world has more than 6 billion people, so it is difficult for all of us to be extraordinary. What can we do? We can try to be the best people that we can possibly be.

I think this means that we need to be honest and hard-working. We also need to be open-minded and kind to other people. Most importantly, we need to be ambitious (有雄心的). We need to always set goals for ourselves and work hard to achieve these goals.

Madam Curie and Thomas Edison were hard-working, kind and ambitious, and they worked hard to achieve their goals. Curie gave her life to “ease(减轻) human sufferings”. Edison spent his life as an inventor. He invented a camera that showed movement. Later people used cameras to make modern films.

A famous writer from Ireland once wrote, “We are all in the gutter(社会底层) but some of us are looking at the stars.” I often come up with this when I am unable to achieve something. It reminds me that we are all at a lower level and that we all have a higher goal to work towards. It makes me try to be the best person that I can possibly be. 根据短文内容,完成下列小题。

89. What kind of people are called great people? 90. Is it difficult for all of us to be extraordinary? 91. What did people use cameras to do later?

92. What does the word “this” mean?

93. What does this passage mainly tell us?
